San Diego State University’s Afrikan Student Union (ASU) puts on an annual fashion show, each year with a theme to fit the overall show. To be held from 6:30pm to 9pm at the SDSU Montezuma Hall, this year’s theme for the 4th Annual Fashion Show on Tuesday, April 13 is “City Lights: Are you ready to be seen?”
Since 2007 the ASU Fashion Show event has grown, and this year, more than 300 people are expected to attend the event at SDSU’s Montezuma Hall.
The 2010 ASU Fashion Show features designers from San Diego and Los Angeles, including CAN Clothing, Wealth & Power, and Raw Water. The designers range from aspiring levels to established professionals, each with a different style and theme. CAN Clothing, a San Diego-based company, and Los Angeles-based Raw Water offer an urban vibe to their clothing selections. On the list of designers are two SDSU students, Jamilah Shabazz, representing clothes with an African theme, and Jeridel Banks whose designs incorporate Asian-inspired motifs.
The 12th edition of Spa Week takes place April 12-18 to deliver the benefits of the spa at an affordable price. Nationwide, more than 800 spas across 30 markets will offer $50 spa treatments with the goal of bringing the benefits of a healthy lifestyle to a greater population. Here in San Diego, approximately three-dozen local spas will participate, including Blue Marble Spa at the Hyatt Regency Mission Bay, Cinnabar Acupuncture Clinic & Spa, Morgan Run Spa and Sport Retreat, Rock Spa at the Hard Rock Hotel, Sè Spa, Sea Spa at Loews Coronado Bay Resort, Spa Aquazul, The Spa at La Costa, Spa Gregorie’s in Del Mar, The Catamaran Spa, The Spa at Estancia, and many more. In addition to offering traditionally beneficial stress-busting and immune-boosting spa treatments like massage, Spa Week also brings intensive, clinical therapies to consumers at the same $50 price point.
Event co-chairs Laura Applegate and Tania Luviano present Vista Hill’s 19th Annual Fashion Show Luncheon at the Manchester Grand Hyatt. The runway will be a spring showcase of the latest trends in fashion with professional and guest models, surprise production numbers, and Carol LeBeau, who will return as celebrity emcee for this event. Festivities include a silent auction, boutiques, opportunity drawing, lunch, fashion show, and program.
