Bra That Hides Underarm Fat - Client Favorite

Time is a sweetheart. It turns today's pain into yesterday's and hands you a tomorrow, but as we slip out of our twenties and into our thirties, forties, fifties and on, these tomorrows come with side dishes like wrinkles, greys and fat. For many, the worst part is underarm fat. Sometimes you can dodge the wrinkles, the grays and the weight gain, but you wake up one day and your armpits look like the blob. Goodness! For some, they are fighting it all, from sun damage to hair loss. Perhaps armpit fat is the least of your worries, but it is nice to know there are bras out there that will not be a constant reminder of your body's inability to keep fat where it is supposed to be, in your breasts.

One bra that does an amazing job of taming underarm fat is the Josie by Natori racerback bra. I have put this on a few thirty something clients that are dealing with aggressive underarm fat. The bra is sexy, comfortable, supportive and one of the most attractive racer back bras I have seen.

A bra should not gap. It should cup the breasts fully and shouldn't squeeze armpit or back fat. These two requests are often overlooked by my clients and ignored by sales associates. Too often, women settle for less in the bra department. A catastrophe I try to prevent with my clients and myself with diligent evaluations of any bra that crosses my path.

The Sensuous Sides Full Coverage bra from Soma Intimates ($48) is the most recent bra to come under my scrutiny. From the available sizes (32C-DD, 34-38B-DD, 40C-D), I requested 36B. At first glance, I am immediately impressed by the structure and elegance. This is a no-nonsense bra that retains the sensuality we want in our undergarments.

Once I adjusted the straps, I slipped it on and seriously said, "Wow." I love this bra. My breasts have never been higher in its contoured cups, my armpit fat was hidden and my back looked great. Oh, how I was looking forward to doing this review.  Like many of my clients, my armpits and back have become my number one body concern. I don't even know what else to write about it. Have I mentioned that I love it? Adding to my love is its overall comfort and the seamlessness of the cup. This bra is perfect for thin Tees and tops. You will not be able to see the impression of your nipples or even the bra when wearing this bra. This is a staple bra. I recommend getting it in nude.

I have an odd case of claustrophobia that prods me to choose outdoor seating over indoor, windows down instead of up and less clothes versus more. Wearing next to nothing is nothing new for me. One of my favorite anti-claustrophobia looks is the sheer top over a bra. This look could easily slip into the dated or trashy zone if you're not careful. When pairing a sheer top you need to choose the right brassiere. It needs to be unusual, colorful, embellished or all of the above. Free People and Urban Outfitters are my go to's for public worthy undergarments. They give you lace halters, long line bras, corset detailing and colors galore.

Product Review: Body Wrap Shapewear

A few months ago I was sent a black leotard with built in under wire bra from Body Wrap Shape Wear. I am not sure why I put the review off. I usually love leotards, but it sat on my "To-Do" rack for awhile. The rack also holds recent fashion purchases for myself and this weeks purchases for clients. They are separated by rack dividers.

Last week I finally decided to throw on the bodysuit from Body Wrap Sheer Iridesscent collection. My initial response was surprise. It is very easy to get into. This is extremely unusual for shape wear. Next I noticed the excellent  quality. The fabric is soft, thin and strong and the the crotch opening is flat and undetectable. This is a must in my leotard book. Nothing worse then having a weird crotch opening that pokes you in the hoo-ha and fights your pants. 

Then I responded to the fit. The shapewear leotard is very sexy and fit my breasts perfectly. I have never been more excited about my breasts in a bra. They didn't push them up or together. They just cupped them perfectly where they stood. I felt amazing all day. I was constantly peeking down my shirt. I can't explain to you how sensual it looked. I can't really show you either becasue pictures of my breasts have no place on my blog.

Then came the effectiveness. As true shape wear, it did not do so too much, hence the ease of climbing into it. Yes, it certainly smoothed my body, but it did very little to actually hold any fat in. My lower belly sticks out and it continues to stick out in this leotard. Also, it cut into the cheeks of my bum to reveal a panty line through my leggings. In the particular outfit I wore with it, my sheer top was long enough to cover it, but I don't care for panty lines. Overall, If you want a slight smoothing of the body in a very sexy leotard, I say yes. If you are looking for hold-that-fat-in shape wear, stick to more tradtional options.

Product Review: Philippe Matignon Tights

 

Delicious! Sensual! Comfortable! I adore my new Philippe Matignon tights. I now understand the meaning of luxury hosiery after slipping my tootsies into a pair of their Roulette cotton tights with its openwork spiral pattern. I usually detest putting my legs into tights. The claustrophobia and itch taunt and distress me, but there is nothing, absolutely nothing, distasteful about climbing into these cotton tights. My god, the comfort astounds me! As does the quality and intricate detailing of its construction.

Pictured above you can see how I will be sporting these Italian made, navy leg adornments in a respectable manner. I paired it with a navy frock in a heavy pattern and high grey boots (Apologies, these boots aren't the best choice - I would prefer a different boot or bootie), but I got to tell you.... these tights will be seeing very little of the outdoors compared to its indoor wear. They have become my new "house pants." I do not own anything unattractive. This includes sweats, so when I am cold in my own home, I often turn to my most comfortable leggings, which happen to be boring and solid colored. Now, I will be turning to my patterned Roulette leggings. They are so much more fun than my leggings, even more comfortable and warmer to boot, since they cover my feet. They are also a helluva lot sexier. I am sure Philippe Matignon, the international leader in quality and design of hosiery, will be disappointed to hear that I use their fashion forward and technological advanced product for house wear, but I must! 

Lastly, I adore the entire vibe of the Philippe Matignon collection. Their website, packaging, and styling of each pair of tights or socks begs me to replicate. I love a product that can present itself well.

You took the time to get the perfect bed frame. You bought that plush mattress. You have the chic bed linens. Do you have the stylish pajamas to match? There is nothing sexier, and more fashionable than slipping into bed wearing sweet somethings. I know that disgusting t-shirt you wear is womb like with its comfort, but pretty things can be comfortable too! Don't do it for your man, don't do it in case your house catches fire and you have to run out into the streets, pajama clad. Do it for you.

For those that need that cotton Tee, get a cute one! Take a moment to toss out every ugly T-shirt you have. I recently had a client get rid of all her ugly clothes. Before she did it, she looked at me and asked, "Well, than what do I wear to bed?" I picked up one of her cute Tees, one too casual for her lifestyle. Puzzled she looked at the shirt and said, "But that's too cute for bed."  She and I had a talk... unless we are talking work appropriate, or wearing a formal floor length gown to lunch, there is no occasion a garment can be too attractive. Obviously you don't want to wear clothing to bed that you want to last - the rubbing of blankets can wear and tear cotton very quickly - but, you can always go out a buy a cute Tee for the purpose of sleeping. If it is that cute, get two.

When shopping for stylish bedwear, keep in mind that this is truly for you and whoever you share your bed with. Indulge in that ridiculous pattern! Get that overly girly look. Get that neon green you can't wear in public. Have fun!

Personal Stylist Purchase - Victoria's Secret U Plunge Push Up Bra

The Victoria Secret U plunge push up bra is my second favorite rack holder I have ever owned. When I am not with clients I have a tendency to wear some chest exposing tops and dresses, but found what I ended up exposing was more bra than tata. Then this sweet baby walked into my life. I first saw the u plunge style on my Australia friend last year and have been looking for an easy purchase of one since - I could only find it online.

Although easy might be the wrong word. I am a fan of Vicotria's Secret's products, but I a not a fan of their customer service. I had to ask three different associates before one knew where to find my size in their back stock. One of them didn't even realize they had a back stock.

Speaking of size, I recommend getting a cup size smaller if you plan to really take advantage of the no show look. I am a 36 C and I went for the 36 B because the bra can ride up a smidge and defeat the purpose of having a secret bra. 

Product Review: Itty BItty Bra

I get many press releases. Most bore me, some don't and there is the rare few that actually stop me, read all the way through and get my fingers tickling. Itty Bitty Bra is one of them. Itty Bitty bra is a linf of bras that caters to the "flat chested." They focus on AA, A and B cups up to a 38-inch chest. They don't have any quality looking, stylish prints, but I love the idea that they are creating a product that will not gap, pucker, or slip. They also have bralettes and instructions on how to measure yourself properly. It turns out, "Measure your ribcage just below the bust line and add 4". This gives you the band or bodice size, e.g., 32. Measure your bust at the fullest point of your breast around your ribcage. Take the difference between the 2 measurements." 

The first time it came to my attention that small breasted women would have a problem with bra shopping was when I worked with Mini Anden on a television show in 2007. She informed me that a bra with an underwire would never stay put because the size of her breasts wouldn't keep it in place. She was only comfortable wearing bralettes. There is also the gap problem I have seen with a few of my clients. There is so much gapping in regular bras. We really had to search for an underwire that wouldn't float over one of my client's rack.
