Katy Perry Wears Stacked Casadei Heels

This may seem an odd post considering I made such a stink about tall heels, but I could not pass up an opportunity to talk about lavender colored heels. Plus, with that platform going on, the heel ends up being my desired 3 inch height.

By the by, although Katy Perry appears to look more doll than human in this photo, I adore this lavender shade heel. Outrageously tall, yes. Drag Queen-ish even, yes - but I am loving it! I wonder if they are comfortable? At $590 they better be.

As a side note, don't think high prices mean comfort. I was recently at a cocktail party that became a long stroll to go salsa dancing and a wonderful Scottish woman could not keep up because she was wearing YSL heels that killed her feet. Bad form, YSL. If you want people paying obscene prices, make those shoes obscenely delicious to wear.

Lady Gaga's Hat Hair in Las Vegas

In just a year Lady Gaga went from go-go dancing in the clubs of New York to Fame Monster. Being such a huge presence in 2009 I expect she will continue to hog the spotlight in 2010. Why? Well, although I am not really fond of her repetitive music, I am a mega fan of her fashion. I have never seen a celebrity, model, or musician look so so fabulous while taking incredible awe inspiring risks. Maybe Rhianna, but she often looks too trendy, whereas Lady Gaga is all her own.

In the past we have had Madonna and Cher, but Madonna often looked trashy and put together badly and Cher never looked right. Lady Gaga always looks good!

Pictured here, Lady Gaga showed her version of hat hair when she was officially named Creative Director for a specialty line of Polaroid products at the 2010 International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. Beyond the hair, I need her sunglasses, those leggings are to die for and the shoulder emphasis was pulled off perfectly. Often the shoulders look 80's retro, but her shoulders look twenty-ten now.

L.A.M.B Makes Bags For Apple Technology

I have reviewed some "cute" looks for computer satchels and such, but nothing compares to what Gwen Stefani has done for Apple. Made exclusively for Apple, L.A.M.B has brought rocker chic to the technology world. From Mac Book Pro covers and gadget pouches to computer bags, I am absolutely loving it. If it wasn't so expensive I would snatch it up in a second. For those that can drop $300 on a bag go wild. These will last you for quite some time considering the water-resistant coated canvas and the Italian Vachetta leather used.

Comme des Garcons Collaborates With The Beatles

The strong woman who inspired the Beatles song, "Lucy in the sky with diamonds" passed away last week from lupus. In honor of her connection to the Beatles I picked up a bit of fashion related Beatles news for today's post.

Rei Kawakubo of Comme des Garcons has come together with Apple Corps Ltd. – the London-based company that manages the legacy and musical catalog of the British band. The two companies are teaming up to launch a new collection of handbags under The Beatles/Comme des Garcons label. The first styles are to debut mid-November at London's Dover Street Market, Kawakubo’s multi-brand emporium, and Gyre in Tokyo. While details were scarce at press time we do know that additional distribution will follow and the deal with Apple Corps is a long-term one with Kawakubo designing other items under the label such as T-shirts.

If this collaboration is done correctly I am incredibly excited to see the result. The Beatles are the only band I have ever intertwined into my fashion, (okay, I do have one Rolling Stones shirt, but only because I love that big mouth).

Gwen Stefani Has White Nails at L.A.M.B Fashion Show

Ever since I saw Angelina Jolie in Hackers I have admired white nail polish. Apparently so does Gwen Stefani who sported a white polish along with the models at her L.A.M.B. Fashion Show last Thursday at Milk Studios. The models' nails were done by the Dashing Diva nail tech team in the NYCF Fleet Week shade, a solid white color that matches Gwen’s favorite look.

Don't Wear A Train At The Emmy's

I know the Emmy's are coming up and I have some fabulous ideas for blogs when it gets a little closer to “go time,” but for now I just want to give some advice to the stars when it comes to women’s clothing. Do not wear a train. This will only hurt your appearance. Yes, the train on a dress has the appeal of vintage elegance in a photo, but unless you are only walking straight away without pause you need someone to help you with this cumbersome thing.

Take a look at Jennifer Lopez here. It just doesn’t look good, although I do like that sexy “bang” hair. It is dated merely by the fact that it takes too much effort. No one likes the look of trying too hard let alone the look of someone trying hard not to step on their valuable dress. This goes for brides as well. You want to have a fabulous wedding? Skip the train.

This year at the Emmy's I guarantee you will be seeing a lot of short hems.

I adore a marvelous affair involving evening dresses, but sometimes nothing is more fabulous than street style in a Chicago Park. Here are some of the street chic outfits seen at Lollapalooza in Grant Park.

Taylor Swift In Michael Jackson's Military Jacket

 
Michael Jackson’s passing has brought his music as well as his fashions to the front of our minds again. For some it never left. My favorite song? Probably Billie Jean. My favorite look? The sparkly military jacket, a version now available at chickdowntown.com.

Although there have been many versions of the sparkly military jacket throughout the years this one is looking particular fabulous. As seen on Taylor Swift, the BB Dakota version has olive-bronze insignia-inspired embroidery, mandarin collar with slight front opening, and figure-flattering pleats. Made of 100% cotton.

I recommend rocking it with jeans, over a simple dress or some leggings. I would also enjoy seeing it with some dressy shorts or silk romper. Swift, who has always been a fan of military inspired jackets, paired it with an exuberant dress or skirt it seems from the photo. I find the look a little too messy. I say stick to subtle patterns or solid colors with few or miniscule details.

Beyoncé Wears Elie Saab on Letterman

It is amazing to me how different an outfit translates from runway to sidewalk. Often times it gets lost, looking good only on the stick model. Other times it looks better off the runway, as proven here by Beyoncé Knowles.

For an appearance on The Late Show With David Letterman, Beyoncé looked amazing in this Elie Saab dress, which looked almost dowdy on the model Georgina Stojilkovic. It seems to me Elie Saab should put some more Beyoncé shaped models in their shows to better promote the line. After all, the major singer and performer is often seen in the label because it flatters her figure so nicely.

If you decide to don this white frock, know that you can wear this out to dinner, a cocktail party or even the office if your job is in a more creative sphere of work. Try it with pumps as well as strappy heels and save it for temperatures that don’t inspire a cover up. Putting a jacket over this kind of dress won’t work because of the bulky right shoulder. Think summer time, warm spring times and abnormally hot winters.
