A boot that combines the black and brown colors is a sophisticated accessory for your feet this fall, but it can be tricky to pull off. It is not an extremely versatile shoe choice. Some people think the combination of a black and brown accessory means it will compliment each color that goes with black as well as earth tones, but it's not true. It can end up excluding both color groups. The key is to pair garments together that also combine earth tones and black.
In the outfits pictured, you will notice the black and brown combination is in the print or graphic. With the sweater dress, we have created the black and tan combo by placing a black necklace over the tan color of the frock. You will also notice that when we combine the colors we tend to alternated the earth tones and the black through out the outfit. Think of your look as a stack of garment levels. Try not to place two of the same next to each other and then balance the "ends" of the outfit. If the lowest part of the outfit, the shoe, has black, add black to highest point of the look with black jewelry. This logic is part of the reason people match their purse to their shoes. The farthest item from the purse is the shoe.
