I adore the sheath dress for numerous reasons. First, it is flattering on just about every woman due to its structured shape that hides unwanted curves while displaying your lovely silhouette. Second, it can go from work appropriate to cocktail hour depending on the hemline. Third, Audrey Hepburn made it fabulous and lastly this season is showing it in some swoon inspiring colors.
Elizabeth and James have a stellar indigo sheath, David Meister has a wonderful fuchsia and designers like Thakoon, Nicole MIller, Armani Exchange and DKNY are just a few of the others that are producing bold sheaths.
For the work appropriate bright sheath, women's blazers in neutral hues are key if you are a power player, but if a strong look is not needed feel free to throw on a simple cardigan. Otherwise, go bare in good weather if you have a more casual work atmosphere, but peep or close toe is essential with the sheath in the office.
For play, think cropped leather jacket or cropped tuxedo jacket or even a boyfriend cardigan. For shoes, go for cutting edge heels to perk up the classic shape, but if you are wearing the sheath for day steer towards fashion forward sandals.
